Vietnam intercepts truck with thousands of cats for consumption

Thousands of live cats, illegally imported from China to the Vietnamese market, were found by the police of this country, in boxes stacked on a truck, authorities announced. The cat meat, known locally as the "little tiger", is appreciated in Vietnam, despite the consumption is officially prohibited.
The truck, intercepted on Tuesday, had almost three tons of cats. The driver confessed that he bought the animals in the Chinese province of Quang Ninh, near the border with Vietnam.
Apparently the cats were intended for Hanoi restaurants, police said. "We do not know what to do with them, are many," said a police officer. The law states that the smuggled goods should be destroyed.
