Ukrainian army loses battle of the Donetsk airport

Kiev confirmed to have abandoned the facility that, since May, has become the main stage of clashes with separatists.

The rebels had released six days ago a new offensive to control the airport, with the support of Russian forces, the government of Kiev.

Ukrainian military says, however, that the fighting continues around the facility - regarded as the front line of fighting - which could increase the risk of collateral damage in the neighboring villages.

В ході бойових дій у населених пунктах Опитне та Водяне Донецької області військовослужбовцями Збройних сил України розгромлений батальйон бойовиків.

Українськими військовослужбовцями знищено більше 50-ти терористів, 5 осіб знаходяться у полоні українських військових, захоплено 2 БМП та артилерійське озброєння противника, знищено 4 танки, автомобільна техніка та боєприпаси терористів.
