Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, Tiradentes (Treasury Pombal, baptized on November 12, 1746 - Rio de Janeiro, April 21, 1792) was a dentist, drover, miner, merchant, military and political activist who served in colonial Brazil (1530-1815), more specifically in the captaincy of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil, it is recognized as a martyr of the Minas Conspiracy, civic patron of Brazil, also patron of the Military Police of the states and national hero.

The day of his execution, April 21, is a national holiday. The mining town of Tiradentes, ancient town of Sao Jose do Rio das Mortes, was renamed in his honor.

Total Station - Prism Reflector total station
Most Total Stations of the instruments measure angles by electro-optical scanner extremely accurate totalbarra digital station codes tied in cylinders or rotating glass discs inside the instrument. Total Stations best quality are capable of measuring angles below 0.5. " The typical EDM total station can measure distances with an accuracy of about 0.1 millimeters, but most applications require accuracy of 1.0 millimeter. These total stations use a glass prism as a reflector for the EDM signal, and can measure distances up to kilometers, but some instruments do not have reflectors and can measure distances to objects that are distinguished by color, but merely a few hundred meters.
Some modern models are robotic allowing the operator to control the machine remotely via remote control. This eliminates the need for an assistant to hold the point on the reflector prism to be studied. Even the operator holds the reflector and controls the machine from the observed point.
