Visit to the Vatican

Vladimir Putin met with Pope Francis during a brief visit to the Vatican. The President of Russia also met with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

This is the third visit by a Russian head of state to the Vatican since the establishment of full-scale diplomatic relations between Russia and the Vatican in December 2009.
